What if I can not search for channels?

In the first place, you should check that you are sure [You can receive digital terrestrial channels? [In the area of digital signal]].

If you can not search for channels it almost always means that the signal is too weak. You should then contact the installer to improve your existing antenna installation or new installation.

Depending on the distance from the transmitter and its power, you can receive the signal via:

  • Room antenna - a short distance from the transmitter, no terrain obstacles
  • Directional antenna - greater distance from the transmitter.

We recommend using directional antennas regardless of location

Depending on the specific situation, it may be necessary to install a symmetric device

Or an antenna amplifier (some of them have gain control)

Tips

  • The antenna must be pointing towards the transmitter.
  • Antennas vary in energy gain (usually in dBi). The greater the profit, the better.
  • Better solution is to use a higher gain antenna and a symmetric antenna than a weaker antenna and amplifier.

Accurate selection of amplifier without meter is not possible. The amplifier should amplify the signal to an acceptable value, and exceeding these values will cause the head to excite and thus no reception.

  • The fact that the TV on the same antenna installation receives DVB-T, and the receiver / decoder does not see the signal, does not mean that the signal is strong enough. TVs have a built-in antenna amplifier and therefore handle a weaker signal.
  • Mesh antennas are not recommended for digital terrestrial reception because they also "catch" interference from other signals. Instead of a mesh antenna, a directional antenna working in the channel range 21-69 is recommended.
